On November 27, 2024, Pragati Gramodyog evam Samaj Kalyan Sansthan organized a livestock management program in Sirhir, Pipraon, Sudnipur khurd, Chibaiya, Kanjia Gram Panchayats of Meja and Bahadurpur Block. The initiative aimed to promote sustainable livelihoods through effective livestock practices. The event featured expert guidance from Ujjwal Das of PRADAN, an organization actively working in Jharkhand, along with technical expert Hemant Singh Negi from PGS. Community workers Ravishankar and Vijay Shankar, livestock assistants Manoj, and livestock caretaker Amita, Sangita, Shaila  also contributed significantly

The program provided detailed knowledge on goat and poultry farming, covering key aspects such as de-warming, vaccination, breed improvement, disease prevention, housing, and maintenance. Practical demonstrations helped participants identify diseases in goats and poultry, perform de-warming, and use locally available materials to prepare herbal remedies for disease management

Additionally, participants were educated on creating vaccination plans to prevent livestock diseases. The hands-on approach ensured that farmers understood and could implement these techniques effectively

This program empowered livestock farmers with the skills and knowledge to enhance productivity and reduce losses, creating a pathway for sustainable income generation and improving the livelihoods of rural communities
